Highfield High School Quad Squad consists of a team of ten Year 8 pupils who have formed to develop the East Quad into an Environmentally sound resource for our school.

Activities completed since September:

Extension of the School Pond - more than doubling the original size.

Planting flowers to bring colour to the quad during the winter months.

Creating a log pile to act as a safe environment for frogs and small creatures

Creating a compost area and leaf store.

Introducing water plants to the new pond area ready for the spring.

A clear out of the old pond which had become overgrown.

Creating a grass bank ready to make a seat in the summer.

Stone edging the new pond to allow classes access for pond dips etc.

Visiting B & Q to buy a tool store.

Visiting Mrs Silburn's garden to gain ideas for the quad.

Activities to take place later in the year.

More planting early spring.

A visit to Jodrell Bank to enjoy the beautiful grounds and spectacular tree collections in the Arboretum.

Introduction of more frogs and newts to the pond.

Organise a Sunflower growing competition for Year 7.

Visit Roseacre's award winning quad.
