Taken from A Block this was the main entrance to Yew Tree.

During the time I attended prefects would 'guard' this entrance at Lunch time and exit was by 'Lunch Pass' only.

The front of A Block with the new link corridor and sixth form centre ( opened '75 I think )

resampledcblockstairs.jpg (102623 bytes)

One of 4 stair wells on the southern side of C Block - do you remember the noise and bustle here at lesson change?

liftresampled.jpg (60049 bytes)

Being a Sixthformer brought with it the honor of using the A Block lift!

After many illegal journeys I remember my first proper go!

metalworkrochresampled.jpg (363831 bytes)

I thought this was the metalwork room where Mr Rochford Taught - but it isn't.  On a recent visit I found the metalwork rooms were now ceramics workshops.  This room is now where students train to repair precision watches and clocks.

Who remember the 'sliding doors' entrance to C Block? 2003 and 1960

For a short time the window on the right near the drain pipe was the school tuck shop ran by sixthformers.

Ted Ward and Mr Davies RE were to the left!

the huts.JPG (82459 bytes)

The Huts - A few classrooms set aside for unusual lessons  - A-Level Sociology in my case.

hulmehallsampled.jpg (226024 bytes)

Hulme Hall another large file sorry for all you still on telephone modems but I really needed the resolution.

Doesn't it look small!!!!!

Gone are the grey cloth chairs and the formidable Mrs Davies!

You can't hear Nathan Detroit singing to Adelaide.

You can't hear Don Boyall giving the cast a 'tongue lashing' at the dress rehearsal.

You can't see the very moving performance of 'Close the Coalhouse Door'.

I once saw Mr Hughes ( headmaster ) reduce 4 lads to tears on this stage after they had vandalized a classroom, he then took them off to his office for the 'strap!' It was a tremendous theatre! It frightened me so much I don't think I ever misbehaved after that!

This was here I sat in 1968 and decided that I wanted to go to Yew Tree after attending Open Day - a good decision!

cantresam.jpg (131420 bytes)

The Canteen made by joining the three House Canteens which operated in the 70s.  Hulme at the front, the Oldham and Cheetham at the far end.

cheethamresampled.jpg (154893 bytes)

Cheetham Hall - Yunis was particularly keen to see this photo posted - I don't think it has changed in 30 years!

Mrs David and then Mr Kennedy giving us their words of wisdom each week!

Look at the photo very carefully and you will see the Cheetham House Yellow Crescent Moon

quadresam.jpg (95573 bytes)

The Quad - I can still hear Jack Price's voice booming out over the grass "WALK!"

bsideseamp.jpg (68629 bytes)

The stairs to G.E.D. with Mr Maguire - one of my teachers, his lessons were very good!
