In late November 2003 the four
Hartley sons (Joshua - 12, Nathan - 10, Daniel - 8 and Luke - 4) were diagnosed
with an extremely rare genetic defect known as X-Linked Lymphoproliferative
Syndrome (XLP) or Duncan’s Syndrome. Doctors have told the family that the
only cure for their four sons is a bone marrow transplant.
Unusually, the boys’ mother, Allison, has been found to be a potential donor
for Joshua. So far the worldwide search amongst nine million donors for the
other three sons has proved unsuccessful.
David Hartley is appealing for
more young men to join The Anthony Nolan Trust’s bone marrow register.
His four sons all urgently need a bone marrow transplant.
David’s family and friends are launching a campaign to raise awareness of the
urgent need for more bone marrow donors to register with The Anthony Nolan
Trust, in particular young men*.
Donors must be aged between 18-40 years old and in good health, for more information call The Anthony Nolan Trust's hotline on 0901 88 22 234 (25p per minute) or log on to www.anthonynolan.org.uk.
