11XC - Speed
![]()
Our class have monitored the speed of cars on several roads in Blackpool.
In our town the police have been very active trying to reduce the speed of traffic.

Police Traffic Cameras have been used to slow traffic on some of our roads.

New 30 mph restrictions have been introduced on roads that were previously 40 mph.
Our class went to one of these areas to see if drivers were keeping to the new speeds.
We found that traffic were keeping to the 30 mph limit in areas where cameras were installed.
We dressed in a similar manner to police officers and we found that drivers reduced their speed considerably as they approached us.
Kills.....................
![]()
At 40 mph
you are much more likely to kill or seriously injure somebody than if you were
driving at 30 mph
Within two years most of the students in our class will be driving their own cars.
Students in 11XC support Blackpool Police in their effort to make our roads safer.
